Shetland Webcams launches 6-week Crowdfunding Campaign

RedEye Campaign

Shetland Webcams RedEye Crowdfunding Campaign

Thanks for viewing the wonders of Shetland, our spectacular auroras, orcas, other sealife, birds, landscape and shipping, using our network of webcams, and for listening to 60 North Radio.

We really appreciate having you on board and we are determined to keep access to our webcams, music and speech completely free for a worldwide audience.

Currently…

Running our high-definition service is complex and very expensive. We have leased servers throughout the world and our digital infrastructure in Shetland and the UK is also costly. We no longer operate from a publicly funded marketing budget, and though we do have some support in the form of sponsorship from various organisations and companies, it’s just not enough for us to continue in the way we think you deserve.

To provide the service we want and you deserve, we need to maintain and upgrade our cameras and hardware, and commit to regular music broadcasts, including our weekly, two-hour live music and video show, The Beatcroft Social. The cruise ships are back and so are the orcas and we want to share our busy harbour with you - with binaural sound too!

Live Aurora too

We need your help.

We urgently need to replace our most popular camera at the Victoria Pier in Lerwick and add one further north along the harbour front. And to do this we need £9755.

The bottom line is, we don’t have that money. Can you help? We’ve decided to use crowdfunding and mount a six-week campaign to raise the funds we need to continue the webcam and 60 North Radio project.

As a thank you for supporting the Shetland Webcams crowdfunding campaign, we have several rewards to tickle your fancy. Take a look and see what you’d like to get your hands on!

Our RedEye Club members will have access to second RedEye branded website which will contain special functionality and more about this will be released during the campaign.
